Changing of the Guard

A bit of a belated happy new year to everyone! Aside from the date, little’s changed around here. Well, that’s not precisely true, I guess. The temperature is beginning its decent into Siberia, there’s a new nanny/cleaner lady running around our house on a daily basis, and Nico has come down with bronchitis (which he may have in turn given to me). So really, a whole lot has changed with the year, but nothing terribly big nor momentous. No one has started growing scales, nor has anyone run off to join the circus (there’s always next year, I supposed).

Always the avid resolver, my resolution for this year is to do something that is not only interesting but also compensates me in actual money, as opposed to parties, bragging rights, or resume items. As I’ve successfully tackled all resolutions in recent memory, I figured I’d really up the ante this time around. Christian, when pressed, laughed at the entire idea of making a resolution, so I guess he doesn’t have one.

In a little less that three weeks, we’re heading to America for about three weeks, where we will cross the country before flying back (with a baby, no less). By the time we arrive home, there should be about one week before Nico’s first birthday. I had fantasies of throwing the kid a big ol’ bash, but now I suspect he’ll be lucky if I muster up enough energy to bake him a proper cake.
