Last night, I watched a teeny-tiny Chinese girl-woman scoop up a glob of butter with her fork and proceed to eat it raw, despite the abundance of lovely bread around to spread it on. It was quite possibly the most amazing thing I’d seen all week. She, as it turned out, felt the same way about the quality of the butter.
