Curveballs and Peas

About this time a year ago, Christian and I were concocting plans for a trip around the world on bicycles. In fact, by now, we were supposed to have our route planned, the necessary funds calculated, and be in the process of training for the actual bicycle part of the scheme. Ha! Funny how things can change in a year, isn’t it? Instead, we’re negotiating parenting approaches, saving our pennies for diapers, and practicing relaxation and coping techniques (me for labor, Christian for living with a hormonally unstable future mother).

Perhaps it’s all for the best though. While there are many couples who’ve attempted to pedal around the world, this couple in particular, is doing it with way more pizzazz than we’d even considered. First off, they’re from Iran (which must really make the visa process painful), secondly they’re planting olive trees (symbolizing peace or perhaps a deep love for Italian food) along the way, and finally, they’re being interviewed on CNN.

Iran, olives, and CNN… How do you possibly compete with that?
