Apparently, we haven’t been giving the hamsters enough attention. After a weekend of acting rather strangely, Knut (“The White One”), who’d been looking kinda pudgy of late, decided to pop out a litter of itty-bitty hamsters. We have learned several important lessons from this: Knut is most definitely female, girls are cooler than boys (on account of the more outgoing hamster ending up being female), TK has wicked awesome pregnancy intuition (although, to be fair, I had suspected Rocky of being the pregnant one), and it’s a very good thing we got the cat neutered.
Hamsters make this stuff look wicked easy, after popping out half a dozen or so itty-bitty hamsters sometime over the course of the night/early morning, the new mom spent a little time gloating over her broad before getting back to business. She put some time in on the hamster wheel, scouted out prospective beds, tormented the cat, and scolded Dad into making room in the ceramic cat nest for the new family, which she then carried down two flights of hamster tubes, one by one. I gotta say, I like how this lady works.
Tonight, we will be implementing a Chinese-style birth control plan by introducing Rocky to his very own brand new bachelor pad.
