Writer’s Block!

So I’m sitting here, tapping my fingers, trying to figure out what the heck to write, and I’m completely stuck. Early today, as I was out and about, I had hordes of ideas, but now, I’m just drained. Christian’s mildly entertained.

“Why don’t you write about your experience at Starbucks today?” He suggests, referring to today’s coffee/lunch with the expat wives.

I shake my head, “Nah…”

“Why don’t you write about what happened to your favorite bakery, Eddie’s?” He tries again, as I’d messaged him earlier in the day with the “exciting” piece of news that the bakery was in a bigger pickle than a mere remodeling.

I shake my head again, “Nah…”

“Why don’t you write about how hotpot in big pots is better than hotpot in small pots?” He makes one final stab, this time with our less than stellar experience this evening at our favorite hotpot place, which is also the favorite hotpot place of everyone else and their second cousin, leading to the overcrowding that caused us to be seated at a table without a burner for the big pot and so had to wrestle with inferior little tabletop pots.

“Nah… There’s just nothing to write about.”

At this point, he chuckles and goes back to playing one of his computer games. You know, when I met him, Christian never played computer games and hardly ever touched a computer as far as I could tell. Over the last several months, his computer game collection has grown piece by piece to the point that he’s now playing several games at once. I’m mildly worried I’ve somehow managed to corrupt him.
